About
Natalie Ray is a watercolor and 24-karat gold leaf artist living and working in Asheville, North Carolina. Her paintings celebrate movement, spontaneity, and the beauty found in fleeting, imperfect moments—the kind you feel more than you see.
Deeply inspired by stage performers, music, and the human form, Natalie’s work captures the quiet electricity that lives between discipline and improvisation. She pairs fluid watercolor with luminous gold leaf, allowing contrast to guide each piece—softness against strength, stillness against motion. Every painting carries a sense of rhythm, as if the subject has just inhaled or is about to move.
Natalie’s creative journey has been shaped by a life lived fully and curiously—from time spent in Barcelona to years immersed in Asheville’s vibrant arts community. Before focusing exclusively on her fine art practice, she spent over a decade running a successful creative business, an experience that brings intention, care, and professionalism to every collector relationship.
Her work is held in private and permanent collections and has been recognized nationally and internationally. Most importantly, her paintings often become deeply personal to collectors—marking a season, a story, or a moment they don’t want to forget.
Natalie lives and paints in Asheville with her husband, a professional musician, and their three children. Family, music, and the beauty of everyday life continue to shape both her process and her point of view.
